Funny that Lalime did, in fact, get his shit together, but the rest of the team was out to lunch the past few weeks. Thankfully that all changed on Wednesday and into last night with back-to-back 5-1 wins.
In more good news, the Sabres extended Connolly for two more years. This means that our pool can continue well into 2011! Tim had another fantastic game last night (2 goals, 2 assists).
On another topic, I have mixed feelings about seeing Alice go, but he was a bit pricey for a mediocre performer. Max took a scary hit last night, but he was back out on the ice later in the period, so I guess he's alright.
This blog is becoming less about Connolly and more about general Sabres stuff. Sorry for poor grammar or typos, I'm pretty damn hungover.

Fuck Scott Gomez
Well, after an initial false start, Comcast has finally installed cable at my house. This should mean more frequent updates, I hope.
Connolly's still rolling with the punches. I continue to cringe every time he heads into the boards, but so far he's been hanging in there.
As for the Sabres, I'm not sure what to expect from Darcy at the trade deadline. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Everyone's favorite Russian underachiever is an obvious candidate for a trade, but it seems like we were saying the same thing last year. I can see Spacek getting dealt, maybe.
On a side note, I really hope one of the following happens: (1) Miller experiences a miraculous recovery, (2) Lalime gets his shit together, or (3) Marty Turco becomes available and agrees to work for food.

It's Valentimes!
Well, it has been a month and Tiny Tim is still going strong. Our defensive corps has been nicked and scraped plenty and Thomas Vanek took an airborne puck to the jaw, but Connolly is still trucking along and contributing in dividends (8 goals in 8 games at one point). The one-two punch of the losses against Ottawa are certainly cause for concern, but I think Lindy will kick some asses in practice over the next few days and we'll see the boys wise up. Tonight's game versus the Western Conference-leading Sharks doesn't have me especially scared; SJ has dropped games recently against the likes of Pittsburgh, Columbus, and Carolina. Plus, Andrej Sekera might come back. Instant win.
Both Jon and Brian's picks have come and gone, while Brett and Brandon have joined in on the pool.

Introduction
Hopefully all of you are as excited as I am by the fact that Tim Connolly has once again joined the ranks of the Buffalo Sabres active roster. While we certainly wish him the best, we need to be honest with ourselves here: the man is fragile. Who knows what injury lurks just around the corner, eying our talented center.
In an effort to keep things interesting during the depressing post-Bills season months, we've created the Tim Connolly Injury Pool. The premise is simple. On Friday, January 9, 2009, we each picked a number of games we thought he would play in before missing a game due to injury. At the time, the Sabres had played 40 games, not including that night's game against the New York Rangers. So if you thought he would be injured in the Rangers game, you'd pick 1 game. If you thought he'd last through the regular season, you'd pick 43, as 42 games would mean you think he would injured in the final game. Whoever comes closest to the dreaded game is the winner and will receive some sort of reward which we will work out at a later date. I don't want to say anything about playoffs, so we'll worry about that if and when the situation arises.
Feel free to invite others to the pool; I will adjust their game totals according to when they submit their guess.
It should be noted that this pool and blog in no way wishes harm upon Tim Connolly or the Buffalo Sabres hockey organization. Despite our wagers, I think I speak for everyone that none of us will be "rooting" for Connolly to suffer an injury. We're just being realistic.
